Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan biopic’s release postponed

Major is an upcoming biographical action film. The film is based on the life of 2008 Mumbai attack martyr Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan. Actor Adivi Sesh will be seen playing the role of Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan. Major is directed by Sashi Kiran Tikka. The film was scheduled to be released theatrically on 2 July 2021 in Hindi, Telugu and Malayalam languages but has now been postponed due to the COVID-19 second wave.

The film is jointly produced by Telugu actor, producer Mahesh Babu under his studio G. Mahesh Babu Entertainment, Sony Pictures and A+S Movies. The film also features Sobhita Dhulipala Prakash Raj and Saiee Manjrekar in lead roles.

Actor Adivi Sesh shared the poster on twitter announcing the postponement of his film. He wrote, “#ReleaseDay of #MajorTheFilm will be my PROUDEST moment. So Let’s celebrate when times get better. Safer. Maamulga undadhu. I Promise #JaiHind.”

The poster read, “We are living in unprecedented times and we hope you are following all the safety protocols and staying safe. Our film Major, which was originally scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on 2nd July, is now postponed to a later date. We will announce the new release date once things are back to normal. Times are tough but so are we.”

Movie critic and biz analyst Taran Adarsh also shared the poster via twitter. He wrote, “#MAJOR RELEASE PUSHED AHEAD… MAHESH BABU – SONY ISSUE OFFICIAL STATEMENT… Stars #AdiviSesh as Major #SandeepUnnikrishnan… Will release in #Hindi, #Telugu and #Malayalam.”

On the work front, Adivi Sesh will further be seen in upcoming film HIT 2: The Second Case, a sequel to the Sailesh Kolanu’s film HIT: The First Case. Sesh made his film debut as a lead actor in Karma. He also played role in S.S Rajamouli’s film Baahubali: The Beginning.
