Shah Rukh Khan’s King poster sparks Dhurandhar 2 comparisons
Shah Rukh Khan’s new poster for ‘King’ has sparked an online debate, with fans praising his rugged look while some social media users compare its visual style with the promotional artwork of ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’.
Khan unveiled the poster on Tuesday, October 27, a few days before his 61st birthday on November 2. It shows him with grey hair and a beard, wearing a distressed leather jacket over an unbuttoned shirt and walking amid flames.
The fiery backdrop prompted users to point to similarities with the poster of Ranveer Singh’s ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’, which shows the actor against flames with a weapon in hand. One user alleged that the ‘King’ poster borrowed from the Aditya Dhar film, while another joked that Khan had seen the rival poster and decided to recreate it. Some critics were harsher, with one calling it a cheap copy. Others also drew parallels with promotional imagery for the 2021 Hong Kong action film ‘Raging Fire’, starring Donnie Yen.
Many fans, however, celebrated the look and said they were more excited for the film. Coverage described the response overall as mixed.
This is not the first time the film’s visuals have drawn comparisons. After the title reveal in November 2025, social media users likened Khan’s blue shirt and tan jacket look to Brad Pitt’s outfit in ‘F1’. Director Siddharth Anand responded with a light-hearted reply to a viral post on the subject.
‘King’ is directed by Anand and produced by Gauri Khan, Mamta Anand and Anand under Red Chillies Entertainment and Marflix Pictures. It also stars Suhana Khan in her theatrical debut, Abhishek Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, Anil Kapoor, Rani Mukerji, Jaideep Ahlawat and Jackie Shroff. The film is scheduled for release on December 24, 2026. Khan was last seen on screen in ‘Dunki’, ‘Jawan’ and ‘Pathaan’.
